Leader Highlight: Yalembeza Leul
Ethiopia
June 8, 2023
Yalembeza Leul is an associate area director serving in the East Central region of Ethiopia, as well as the YoungLives Coordinator for Ethiopia. She met Moges Berassa, the country and regional director of Young Life Ethiopia, while in grade school. When Moges invited her to a Young Life camp, she loved everything about it, from the music, games, and new people from different cities to the smiles and compassion of leaders. When she heard the speaker talk about the love of Jesus, she decided to say yes to Him. This decision changed her life.
Yalembeza volunteered for eight years, then came on staff. She now leads two ministries and supervises four others, including 43 leaders in her area. On a weekly basis, over 400 kids attend club and 280 teenagers attend Campaigner sessions to grow in their faith. As a YoungLives coordinator, she supervises five active YoungLives ministries with 10 mentors and 15 prayer partners. She holds regular prayer and Bible studies with her mentors, volunteers, and prayer partners. Yalembeza is excited about upcoming camps. Her vision is to develop more volunteers to reach out to the next kid and the next community.
